Dear HRC Family,

It’s the start of a new year, and I am excited for what’s ahead. We know that God’s way of doing things is always from glory to glory. That is also His heart for legacy. I am honored to say this year, on Jan. 17 I will be celebrating my 60th birthday on the very same day I will have the great honor to celebrate my son and daughter—as Sue and I will officially pass on the baton of Senior Pastorate of HRock Church to Pastors Gabriel and Monica Ahn!

During this time of transition, some of you have asked different questions regarding the future of our church. Please know our heart: HRock Church is our family—Mama Sue and I are here to stay. As we allow Gabriel to walk into his calling, Sue and I will remain as the Founding Pastors and Leading Apostles of HRock Church and our apostolic center. I am still going to be involved on Sundays; Gabe and I will continue to share the primary preaching responsibilities. I will also continue to lead our board meetings and our apostolic council meetings.

This installation is truly a prophetic word coming to pass. When my son, Gabriel, was 12 years old, he received a personal word from the late prophet Bob Jones that he would carry the five-fold mantles of ministry. I know that his marriage with Monica has solidified that word even more as they have walked hand-in-hand to lead various ministries within HRock Church, including the young adults ministry City Rock, the creative ministry and ultimately the Sunday morning services.

As I turn 60 in a few days, I can honestly say that I am the most blessed man alive. Scripture clearly shows in the life of Elijah—a prophet chosen by God to anoint the next generation of leaders of his time (1 Kings 19)—that God’s heart is that the next generation would do even greater things in His Kingdom! I trust that my son and daughter will take HRock to new levels that Sue and I could only dream of. I believe that our ceiling will be their floor and that a great harvest that the Lord promised me in 1982 will come to pass under our new Senior Pastors, Gabriel and Monica Ahn, and with the apostolic covering of Mama Sue and me.

HRock Church was birthed out of revival, and we will always be a revival church. Thank you for loving and supporting your new senior pastors, for releasing me to further advance God’s Kingdom through Harvest International Ministry and for ultimately trusting in our Father as we move with the Holy Spirit into great revival and a great harvest!

Much Love,

Q & A from Papa Ché and Mama Sue

Q: Will you still be speaking on Sunday mornings?
A: Yes. However, I’ll be allowing my son, Gabriel, to take several weeks out of a month to share what the Lord has placed on his heart. Ultimately, he will be speaking more than I will so that I can travel to more HIM churches.

Q: Will the church shift in terms of vision and focus?
A: No. As presiding apostle and the founders of HRock, Mama Sue and I will still be seeking the Lord for the overall vision and mission of HRock Apostolic Center. At the end of the day, we will always be a revival church! With that said, Gabriel and Monica will be encouraging more of the arts and entertainment, media and other creative methods throughout each ministry.

Q: What are you looking forward to the most with Gabriel and Monica’s installation?
A: I can’t wait to hear my son and daughter speak. I truly believe they are carrying the fresh rhema word from God for our city and church. I’m also looking forward to traveling around the world and taking my time to come back. As I’ve aged, I’ve found it more physically taxing to do international trips within a four-day span. Now that I don’t have to make it back on Sunday, it will allow me to rest and recuperate after my travels. All great things. Yay God!
