A Letter From Pastor Che Ahn

Right now, we are in the midst of another incredible media revolution. This one is even more shocking! It is the transmission of the Gospel – with current renewal and revival -- through television, satellite, cable, and most recently, through live programs and video streaming on the internet!

Celebrating the Life of Jill Austin

Jill Austin was an extraordinary woman who was a revivalist and a "God Chaser". As a Jewish believer in Yeshua, she grew up in the famous Hollywood Presbyterian Church. She was a forerunner as a woman minister in the Jesus movement and ministered with Lonnie Frisbee in the tents of Calvary Chapel. She moved to Kansas City and was part of the Kansas City Prophets. She spread the revival that was birthed out of Toronto and then she joined Harvest International Ministry and our apostolic team as a prophetess. She has ministered regularly at HRC.

In fact, she spoke here several weeks before she went home to be with the Lord. She was always on the cutting edge of what the Holy Sprit was doing in His church. She moved to Los Angeles because she also has a passion to see Hollywood transformed. We will miss her dearly, but we are praying that her mantle will fall on the emerging women prophetess throughout the world.

Request for Prayer

We greatly appreciate each and every one of you.  As we enter into the New Year, we would be honored if you would lift us up in prayer.  We have a few vital prayer points:

  • Pray for our missionaries around the world, especially for those in closed countries and facing persecution
  • Pray for the leaders and staff of HIM: Pastor Che Ahn, Director Mark Tubbs, CFO Derek Thomas, and Membership Coordinator Rica Davis
  • Pray for the individuals that come to know Christ through the TV show, that they will prosper and grow closer to the Father throughout the coming year.

Story About NJAKUU

HIM Kenya - MATSANGONI ORPHANAGE

(A story from one of the orphanage workers)

It was 4:00 a.m. and I was walking the long distance to the morning glory service at church.  I heard a strange noise in the nearby rubbish pit.  I had a flashlight, and I switched it on towards the noise.  There were two dogs which were busy looking for food.  I almost ignored it all when I heard a voice of a despairing child.  It was as if the child was making its last call before giving in to the call of death which was inevitable.

I ran to the place and fought the dogs away.  To my amazement, there was a small boy of about 6 months old shivering in the cold morning.  His crying had died off and he looked very pale.  The boy was bleeding on the legs and was stinking due to the rubbish which was the bedding for the whole night.

I could not help myself as I found tears rolling down my cheeks.  I took the little boy and went back to my house.  I ran warm water and washed him, then wrapped him in some clothes to make him warm.  I boiled some milk and fed him.  As the day was breaking, I took the boy to a nearby health center and later reported the matter to the police.  The police later gave the boy back to me and I took him to the orphanage.  I gave him the name Njakuu.

It is now 10 months since he was taken to the orphanage.  Nobody has come to claim him yet despite making efforts to look for his biological parents.  The good news is that the boy is now healthy and in the baby class learning.  He has a home, a mother with brothers and sisters.  In his eyes is hope that his destiny is in God’s hands.

The children in this orphanage learn English among other things in their school, so their future is brighter to take a trade and be self sustaining in the future. They are happy children, generally, with most expressing their gratitude that they have a place to stay, be loved, and have friends. They know that outside the grounds of their orphanage, most are not so lucky.

If you would like to do more to support HIM orphanages and other ministries to the poor, please, click here to make a much needed donation.  Without your support, these orphanages and other outreaches like it would not be able to survive and help those who so desperately need it.

Pastor Che’s Letter

“This method of printing can be credited not only for a revolution in the production of books, but also for fostering rapid development in the sciences, arts and religion through the transmission of texts.” (Mary Bellis, About.comInventors)

January, 2009

Dear HIM Pastors and Friends:

The printing press changed the world.  Invented by Johannes Gutenberg in 1436, information access would never be the same.  Now, people everywhere could obtain printed materials for themselves.  The first and greatest book published in volume on the new press was the Gutenberg Bible!  Year after year, it is still the most widely published book in the earth.

Right now, we are in the midst of another incredible media revolution.  This one is even more shocking!  It is the transmission of the Gospel – with current renewal and revival -- through television, satellite, cable, and most recently, through live programs and video streaming on the internet!

The effects can be seen in just one God invasion such as the live internet transmission of the Lakeland revival.  GodTV estimated a staggering 800% growth in online viewers from 25,000 weekly hits to 200,000!  They air in more than 200 countries, with their TV viewers being an estimated 500+ million.  Can you imagine how this enlarges the world for the Gospel?  One pastor in Uganda walks two miles to the nearest village to use a cafe computer, but what a world he discovers.  There, alongside the bush where lions lay and the hot sun beats down on the cracked soil, this pastor of 90 churches that meet under trees discovers the truth about moving in power ministry as he watches a healing!

Elsewhere, in an extremist Muslim area of Indonesia, a family and a few friends meet secretly in a back room.  Perhaps it is to watch a TV, or the small screen of a laptop computer.  But now, they are viewing programming beyond their wildest dreams!  They are watching a Harvest Rock Church conference live and learning about taking over the mountains of their culture.  During the prayer time, they too, may be hit with the power of God as they watch.

Remember, years back, when television evangelists asked their audience members to touch their television screen to receive their healing?  How about when the Apostle Paul touched handkerchiefs, sent them to be placed on the sick, and the anointing was released for their miracle or deliverance?  (Acts 19:12)

The Holy Spirit is just looking for a conduit!  Not only can teaching be shared through these mediums, but so can miracles!  Here’s just one internet testimony from a woman who was watching the “Burn Atlanta Revival” with Jim Drown.

“I was working in my kitchen with my laptop perched on the counter.  I had been feeling dead on the inside and really needed a fresh dose from God.  I couldn’t make the morning meeting, but I was watching it live by streaming video.  Jim Drown called out a word of knowledge that directly applied to me.  I was drawn to touch the screen of my laptop!

The power of God hit me so hard, I felt like I had been electrocuted and I started screaming!
I could tell that God was delivering me of something, and frankly, I was glad I wasn’t in the meeting so I didn’t scare everyone else!  I felt a horrible oppression leave me.  God’s presence was stronger on me than when someone had touched me in prayer and I had been slain in the Spirit.  I was amazed!

We so believe Jesus wants us to reach uncountable masses with these media that we have invested in a 24/7 website through iWorshipHere.com and programming on GodTV.  Our show, the Holy Spirit Today, along with broadcasting our special events, outreaches and conferences, vastly expands HIM’s capacity to reach the world for Christ and change countless lives.

Already, we have gained a new HIM Pastor in India, and seen HIM Australia grow from four to 40 churches by means of the broadcasts!

Sadly, I’ve already had to stop our outreach with Daystar TV due to cost.  But this is the Kairos hour for this conduit, and I am sincerely asking for your help.  We need all the financial support and prayer you can muster!  In many ways, I believe this method may yield the greatest return on investment of any way we can deliver the Gospel!

Thank you once again for making history together!

In His love,

Che Ahn

India Mission Trip March 5 - 23, 2009

ANNOUNCING A HARVEST INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY (HIM) TRIP TO INDIA

Dates: March 5 - 23, 2009, (if you need to go less time, it can be arranged)

Costs: $3,200* includes airfare, lodging, food, insurance, and visas.  Price does vary based on departure city and how quickly you ticket.  This price is based out of LAX. Usually the longer you wait the more the price goes up.

Pastor Mark Tubbs, the Executive Director of HIM, will lead the team.

What is the purpose of this trip?
This trip to India is a powerful time to encourage the body of Christ and the HIM churches there.  It has been a difficult time as the Hindus have opposed outdoor evangelism and many evangelistic pastors have become discouraged.  In the Orissa region churches and homes have been burned down, as well as violence toward Christians. We have several key ministries that are ministering in Coimbatore, Bangalore, and in Northern India, which includes churches, Bible schools, and orphanages.  It is an important season to go and uplift the leaders and pour out the love of Christ.

What will you do?
These trips are designed for hands on, and you do the "stuff."  You are literally the speakers, prayer team, and ministers.  We do some training, but the teacher is the Holy Spirit.  You will be released to heal the sick, cast out demons, preach, and move in the power of what the Spirit shows us.  This team will be smaller, around 10 people, which is perfect for transportation and serving the leaders we visit.  In addition, we have powerful team meetings where there is prayer, impartation, and training.  It is a condensed ministry school designed to release you into your anointing.  We will be specifically ministering in the churches, Bible Schools, and orphanages.  Also, we will have an excursion to see the tigers of India along with our hosts.

Who will we minister to?
HIM is a network of networks with over 5,000 churches.  In India, we have key churches and networks under the leadership of Pastor David Prakasam and Pastor Monovah Nickelson.  We also have our missionaries in Northern India.  Everywhere we go people respond to the message we bring of freedom from religion, restoration of the prophetic ministry, and the power of the gospel through healings and miracles.  Generally, we speak in venues with 100-500 people in churches, home churches, and at the orphanages.  Sometimes we have larger meetings, but our goal is not to have a big meeting and have them go home.  Therefore, we have our leaders plan meetings in strategic places throughout the region and we go out in teams to minister to the groups.  We often go to rural communities that most people do not go to.  There we seek to bring transformation to the community.  In addition, we have pastors and leaders who have a great desire to grow in the things of the Spirit.  Most of you have heard far more teaching and training and don't even know the storehouse that you are.  These trips are designed to release the giftings and anointings in the storehouse, YOU!

Where will we stay?
This trip we will have very nice accommodations in hotels that meet Western standards.  Since we minister so long, I believe that we need rest and time to reflect.  The places we stay in keep the need for safety and health in mind.   Again, the reason is to be refreshed and renewed as we go each day.  Even though these are not luxury hotels, they are clean and adequate for our teams
