A Letter From Pastor Che Ahn

The publication:  The HIM monthly letter.  The headlines:  Encouraging.  With all of the tumult in the “seen” world - (a very real tumult, I might add, that is hitting all of our checkbooks and families) I wanted to encourage you with the truth.

Story About Mogaka

HIM Kenya - MATSANGONI ORPHANAGE

As recounted by an overseer at the orphanage:

It was a day of doom and redemption for Mogaka.  Gun shots were heard all over the town of Naroko.  As I was running for safety, I heard a cry of a child.  I ran toward the cry while making sure that I was safe.  To my surprise, I met this lonely small boy, who looked weak and malnourished.  The poor boy had been abandoned by his mother who was running for her life from the clash zone.  The boy was dirty, weak, and needed urgent medical attention.  I gathered up my courage, and went to the police station to record a statement about the boy. Because the boy looked so pathetic, the police gave me permission to take care of the boy.  I took the boy to hospital for medication and there after to the orphanage.

It has now been about one year since the boy was brought into the orphanage.  The parents are still at large despite using the media to announce the lost boy.  It is not known whether his parents are alive or dead.  The good news is that Mogaka is safe and now healthy at our orphanage.  He has joined the nursery children, and is now learning and has new parents, brothers and sisters, with a new hope of seeing a better tomorrow.

Most children in the orphanage range from babies to junior high age, with a small amount being older.  Many are aids orphans, and others have lost family due to high rates of malaria and HIV aids in the region.  The children are schooled on sight by professional teachers, and receive two meals a day consisting of rice or maize.

If you would like to do more to support HIM orphanages and other ministries to the poor, please, click here to make a much needed donation.  Without your support, these orphanages and other outreaches like it would not be able to survive and help those who so desperately need it.

Pastor Che’s Letter

The headlines read, "CHRISTIANS JOYFULLY EXPECT UPTURN IN COMING YEAR BECAUSE GOD IS FAITHFUL"

Special December Letter

Dear HIM Pastors and Friends:

The publication:  The HIM monthly letter.  The headlines:  Encouraging.  With all of the tumult in the “seen” world- (a very real tumult, I might add, that is hitting all of our checkbooks and families) I wanted to encourage you with the truth.

I love what Bill Johnson says.  He says, “Make sure you distinguish the facts from the truth.”  The facts are, the stock market is in a squeeze, the economy is shaken, and nonprofits and businesses are taking a hit everywhere.  The truth is that ultimately the economy is owned by God; He makes good on His promises; the wealth of the wicked is being turned to the just; and the governments of this world are becoming the governments of our Christ!

Remember that our reality is a kingdom one.  It is not seen; you won’t find it featured on the evening news.  It’s not usually the topic in your office or school lunchroom.

Yet, all things are being summed up in Christ.  He is fulfilling His promise to shake everything that can be shaken, and He is pouring forth revelation of His kingdom that will usher in sweeping revival.  He is working for good out of what appears to be bad.

What is our response?  I would like to encourage you to continue giving as if Jesus is Lord; to continue believing and praying in alignment with God’s values and desires, and to declare the true results of favor and faith for your personal life and family, those of your loved ones, and of a world yet to be reached.

I’m asking you to stand with me and thank God rather than joining in the world’s lament as if there were no help from our Savior.

I believe our faith will find favor with God to go forward in continuing our vital aid and mercy ministries to the orphans and poor in Kenya, Malawi, Mali, India, Pakistan, and Peru, as well as, reaching souls and planting churches in 35 countries around the globe. I believe it is God’s will that the word of life continues to flow out to more than 200 nations through our media outreaches.

HIM is 100% supported by people like you and me.  Those we help have been chosen because they are truly faithful and truly in need.  Many literally depend on us for their very survival.

We’ve cut everything we can out of our budget, trimmed the already lean staff to “pencil thin,” and substantially reduced our television budget by making a hard choice to drop Daystar due to costs.

At this time of year, when we celebrate the reason we live and the very reason for HIM itself – Jesus – I am asking you to sow a very special gift at this very vital hour.  I know it will require sacrifice on all of our part to do it.

It may mean cutting back on meals eaten out or Christmas gifts or something fun but optional. I am making this personal appeal for help so that we will not miss a beat in being faithful to the little child with an empty bowl; the village pastor that is not paid but just needs enough help to provide a place to lead his flock, a rescued child soldier or widow, and to the unbeliever who doesn’t even know there is something to hope in!

If you have never been a regular donor, please consider a monthly gift.  We’ll send you an envelope each month.  It means more than ever now!  If you are a regular supporter, I am personally asking you to help us with an extra one-time gift before the year closes out to help us in this time of challenge.

Please join us in prayer for the work of HIM, that our effectiveness will be multiplied at the lowest cost, and our precious Lord will be glorified.

There are few out there who really believe they can change the world.  I am thankful you are one of them, and that change comes every day through you and HIM!

In His love,

Che Ahn

P.S. This is your chance to make a tax deductible gift before year end.  You can also make an online donation by clicking the link below.  Also, for your convenience, we can set up an automatic recurring credit card donation.  Just send us an e-mail at info@harvestim.org and we will send you information on signing up.

India Mission Trip March 5 - 23, 2009

ANNOUNCING A HARVEST INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY (HIM) TRIP TO INDIA

Dates: March 5 - 23, 2009, (if you need to go less time, it can be arranged)

Costs: $3,200* includes airfare, lodging, food, insurance, and visas.  Price does vary based on departure city and how quickly you ticket.  This price is based out of LAX. Usually the longer you wait the more the price goes up.

Pastor Mark Tubbs, the Executive Director of HIM, will lead the team.

What is the purpose of this trip?
This trip to India is a powerful time to encourage the body of Christ and the HIM churches there.  It has been a difficult time as the Hindus have opposed outdoor evangelism and many evangelistic pastors have become discouraged.  In the Orissa region churches and homes have been burned down, as well as violence toward Christians. We have several key ministries that are ministering in Coimbatore, Bangalore, and in Northern India, which includes churches, Bible schools, and orphanages.  It is an important season to go and uplift the leaders and pour out the love of Christ.

What will you do?
These trips are designed for hands on, and you do the "stuff."  You are literally the speakers, prayer team, and ministers.  We do some training, but the teacher is the Holy Spirit.  You will be released to heal the sick, cast out demons, preach, and move in the power of what the Spirit shows us.  This team will be smaller, around 10 people, which is perfect for transportation and serving the leaders we visit.  In addition, we have powerful team meetings where there is prayer, impartation, and training.  It is a condensed ministry school designed to release you into your anointing.  We will be specifically ministering in the churches, Bible Schools, and orphanages.  Also, we will have an excursion to see the tigers of India along with our hosts.

Who will we minister to?
HIM is a network of networks with over 5,000 churches.  In India, we have key churches and networks under the leadership of Pastor David Prakasam and Pastor Monovah Nickelson.  We also have our missionaries in Northern India.  Everywhere we go people respond to the message we bring of freedom from religion, restoration of the prophetic ministry, and the power of the gospel through healings and miracles.  Generally, we speak in venues with 100-500 people in churches, home churches, and at the orphanages.  Sometimes we have larger meetings, but our goal is not to have a big meeting and have them go home.  Therefore, we have our leaders plan meetings in strategic places throughout the region and we go out in teams to minister to the groups.  We often go to rural communities that most people do not go to.  There we seek to bring transformation to the community.  In addition, we have pastors and leaders who have a great desire to grow in the things of the Spirit.  Most of you have heard far more teaching and training and don't even know the storehouse that you are.  These trips are designed to release the giftings and anointings in the storehouse, YOU!

Where will we stay?
This trip we will have very nice accommodations in hotels that meet Western standards.  Since we minister so long, I believe that we need rest and time to reflect.  The places we stay in keep the need for safety and health in mind.   Again, the reason is to be refreshed and renewed as we go each day.  Even though these are not luxury hotels, they are clean and adequate for our teams.

Sign up and Deposit:
The first thing to do is print the application, fill it out and e-mail it, fax it  or mail it back to the HIM office.  If you send in an application via mail you can send the $200 non-refundable deposit with it.  If you e-mail the application you can either send a check or call the HIM office to make a deposit by credit card.  You are not officially on the trip until a deposit is made.  The trips do fill up and usually are limited due to vehicles and housing arrangements.  This trip has a limit of 10 people and could fill up fast.
